Now an accomplished game developer with over 11 years' experience, Dali has contributed to renowned companies, working on diverse game genres from advert games to massively-multiplayer online motorsport manager games. He primarily utilizes C# and Unity3D, but also has experience with various game development frameworks and backend technologies like Typescript, .Net, and JavaScript, alongside Firebase and Amazon Services. Roy Bodereau
Senior Client Programmer
Roy discovered video games as early as he could, either through a handheld console (Game Gear, Game Boy, and then later on with mobile gaming) or when playing with his brothers on the multiple home consoles his family got while growing up (Sega Saturn, Nintendo 64, PlayStation 1-2-3, Nintendo GameCube, and Nintendo Wii). Then came his PC times with a homemade local using a crossed RJ45 cable in order to start enjoying competitive games (Warcraft 3, Red Alert 2, Counter Strike 1.6, etc.). Let's not forget the MMORPG phase of discovering the joy of sleepless nights grinding levels on MapleStory.
While playing games has always been part of Roy's life, it's only later on that he discovered how to program on a scientific calculator in high school. The first games were made using BASIC language: a scrolling racer, a soccer penalty simulation, some math solving tools, and so on.
It's natural that he went for a course containing deeper informatics teachings and programming lessons. In university, he learned about Unity3D and C# language during an internship; from there, it remained his specialty, whatever the field was (virtual reality, serious gaming, and, of course, gaming).
With over 10 years of experience and 6 of those as a developer and then lead at Eden Games (a French leading studio in racing games), he had opportunities to touch most of the aspects related to game development. From establishing UI/UX, handling backend programming, developing low-level APIs, and working with various team sizes.
As a player and father, Roy now sees his time being split into two. On the one hand, he relaxes on single casual games such as the latest Zelda titles or focuses on completing rogue-likes like Dead Cells. On the other hand, he has spent numerous hours on competitive online experiences with high ranks in Rocket League, League of Legends, and Team Fortress 2. Apart from that, when needing to play with developer friends, nothing beats a good old Borderlands game.
Finally, to complete the geek/gamer/programmer portrait, coffee is Roy's guilty pleasure. If you want to make him happy, just offer him a cup of Rwanda or Sumatra medium roast!
